Tawnja is running for the United States Congress to shine a light on environmental, healthcare, climate change, education, farmers, strong unions and most importantly human rights issues affecting all citizens in our great country of America.
Tawnja spent over two decades on television in the Minneapolis market only to have her career ended due to sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. After a two year legal battle beginning in late 2017 to restore her television career, justice was denied to her due to sexual harassment laws that are designed to protect the harassers, which they did.
Tawnja is a former Mrs. Minnesota America, professional model, actress, television personality and graduate of the University of North Dakota. Tawnja is the daughter of a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, B-52 pilot who served three tours in Vietnam. Her mother is a retired lifelong public school teacher with a masters degree in art. Tawnja's parents are also both farmers in America's heartland for decades. Tawnja's grandmother was the national secretary for the Disabled American Veterans Association (DAV) and her grandfather was a Korean war veteran and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Association (VFW).
Tawnja is a passionate environmentalist and supports human rights for people of all faiths, ethnicity and genders.
Tawnja supports the Wounded Warrior Project, World Vision, the ASPCA and is a member of AARP. Tawnja was married at, and is a member of, Mount Olivet Lutheran Church for the past twenty years and supports Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Tawnja is the Godmother of Madisyn Zahradka and Erica Beebe, a stepmother to Jason Bauer and Cherise Peterson and a loving wife to Paul Peterson. Paul is a professional drummer who has played with The Cole Allen Band, The Sena Ehrhardt Band and toured nationally with Badfinger. Paul is a 3-D animator, film maker and Access Coordinator for LATV10 in Forest Lake, Minnesota.
Tawnja is a home owner within Minnesota's sixth district in the great lakeside community of Forest Lake since 2011.
Tawnja's goal in life is to remove Tom Emmer from the U.S. House of Representatives on Nov 3rd 2020... Tawnja has a great track record for achieving her goals.
